Poland may need rate hike in November, central banker says

WARSAW: Polish central banker Ludwik Kotecki said if inflation projections do not show CPI returning close to 2.5% by the end of 2027 or start of 2028, then a 25-basis-point rate hike would be necessary in November, the PAP agency reported on Friday. Currencies and stocks firm, Polish central bank seen on hold Poland’s central bank kept its main interest rate at 3.75% on Wednesday, as inflation rose to 4.0% annually in September, saying future decisions would depend on the outlook for prices and external factors, particularly commodity costs.
