Malaysia's August exports rise 45.5% y/y, above forecast
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s exports rose 45.5% year on year in August, higher than expectations, government data showed on Friday. August exports had been expected to grow 37.9%, according to 14 economists surveyed by Reuters. Imports in August grew 41.1% from a year earlier, data from the statistics department showed. Malaysian palm oil slips on exports, rival oils weakness Analysts were expecting a 33.2% increase. Malaysia recorded a trade surplus of 28.1 billion ringgit ($6.89 billion) in August, compared to the poll forecast of 25 billion ringgit.
